These 2 books describe the rebuilding of Jerusalem, which occured against great opposition. Is there a struggle between God and Satan in events such as this? As Ezra read the books of the law to the people, they were overwhelmed and began to cry. Why should the reading of these books stimulate such emotion? Did Ezra and Nehemiah use the right methods by threatening and forcing the people to keep the Sabbath and not to intermarry with the heathen? Is there meaning to the Sabbath or is the Sabbath just something we do because God says so?
