Matthew 23: Jesus on Legalism

Legalism was one of the biggest challenges to the new Kingdom that Jesus was trying to describe. Religion in Jesus's day was based on rule keeping and the Pharisees were very devout in their attempts to please God and to show that they were his holy people by keeping the right list, obeying all of the commands, reading the inspired Scriptures, attending church, paying tithe, and even sending missionaries around the world. Is legalism seen in 21st century Christianity? Yes, but in many different forms which we will discuss in this lecture.
